I know I slam it a
lot, but there is a very good reason why we have functional fixedness. Functional fixedness is not
only one of our greatest weaknesses, it is also one of our greatest triumphs.
This mother duck is stuck on the habit of bringing white round things into her nest.
If she did not have this fixed motion programmed into her thinking process, she could loose her chicks.
